Multiple Myeloma

Multiple Myeloma Explained

Cancer of the blood, or hematologic cancer, affects the function of blood cells. Hematologic cancers often form in the bone marrow, the part of the bone where red and white blood cells and platelets are produced. Blood cancer prevents the blood from performing its functions, which includes preventing infection and clotting to prevent serious bleeding. The most common types of blood cancer include:

  • Leukemia
  • Lymphoma
  • Myeloma
  • Aplastic anemia
  • Germ cell tumors
